Veda’s therapists endeavored to empower her to use her communication device to share a message she feels strongly about. In Veda’s case, her passion is singing along with a good Taylor Swift song. Taylor Swift’s music has been an important part of her life for as long as Veda can remember.
When discussing the idea of shooting a video, Lynsey Lobdell, Children’s Therapy TEAM’s Director of AAC shared, “Veda, her family, and her therapists all loved the idea. We talked about it long enough, it was time to just do it.” Over the summer the TEAM went to work preparing for and shooting a video. Finally, on July, 19th a short video highlight was shared on Children’s Therapy TEAM’s social media.
Within a short time, the view count quickly jumped from a few hundred to several thousand and still continues to grow. Children’s Therapy TEAM’s Communications Officer Becky Carney noted, “It’s clear that Veda’s charm is winning hearts. Who doesn’t smile when seeing her belt out Hallelujah with such joy. She uses her device to clearly communicate exactly what she wants and feels and people can see how empowering that is. That is a huge victory in and of itself.”
