Every therapist begins their work with a new family by listening. Long before little Eden Carlson’s dramatic recovery from drowning became the cover story on Good Morning America and countless other news outlets, TEAM PT Danielle Cunningham met with Eden and her family to learn about their amazing journey.
While Eden has made phenomenal progress at Children’s Therapy TEAM, Danielle admits that the amazing part of Eden’s recovery started before she arrived at TEAM’s clinic.
Danielle notes, “Eden has a significant story of brain trauma and recovery due to oxygen treatment. She was in a ‘vegetative state‘ as mom puts it when she was discharged from Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Now she walks, talks, problem solves, and so much more.”
Danielle describes Eden’s progress as “truly remarkable.” Researchers who cared for Eden admit that they have never seen recovery like Eden’s before.
Eden’s parents, Chris and Kristal Carlson, want more children experiencing similar brain injuries to be able to benefit from use of time-sensitive oxygen treatment.
The International Hyperbaric Medical Foundation has named a fund in honor of Eden called the Eden Carlson Pediatric Anoxic Brain Injury Fund. The fund is used to assist other children in getting time-sensitive care.
Gifts to the fund can be made here.
