Pediatric and Adolescent Speech-Language PathologistWhen Mentor Therapist Mandy Walters joined Children's TEAM in 2010, she brought with her a decade of pediatric experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Units, outpatient, home health, public school, and early intervention settings. She holds a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Communication Disorders from the University of Arkansas (2000). Her primary interest includes improving feeding, swallowing, and oral motor development.
In addition to utilizing this specialization to treat infants and older children, she also serves as a feeding/swallowing technique mentor to fellow TEAM therapists. She also specializes in addressing sensory-related feeding issues, early language intervention, and treatment of children with Down Syndrome. Mandy is an active TEAMworks volunteer and enjoys spending time with her daughter and their four crazy dogs! In her free time, you may find Mandy NOT being lazy…she enjoys CrossFit, golfing, hiking, and kayaking.
Mandy Walters is certified in VitalStim Therapy. She is also a certified provider of the Neonatal Oral Motor Scale (NOMAS). Mandy has attended numerous courses addressing infant and child feeding and development. She has also completed training in Food Chaining Methods, Talk Tools, Kaufman Apraxia Methods, and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS Level 1) methodologies.
