For example, when she discovered that one of her clients loved Spider-man, she incorporated that into many of the games and activities she planned for the child. Tapping into a child’s interests as a means of targeting therapy goals is a successful formula Chelsea often draws on. Chelsea notes that her background in psychology (B.S., University of Arkansas 2009) helps her to be more effective as a therapist. Reflecting her insatiable love of learning, Chelsea also minored in Anthropology and Geography. Her strong academic prowess led her to compete in the Maddak Aids for Daily Living Competition hosted by the American Occupational Therapy Association during her graduate school studies at the University of Central Arkansas (M.S., 2015). Drawing on her interest in makeup art, she created modified makeup brushes to improve grip strength and mobility as her competition entry.

Chelsea enjoys anything involving the outdoors such as canoeing, biking, hiking, rock climbing or simply sitting on a patio. She also loves to travel and has a goal to hike at least fourteen of the Colorado mountains with an elevation of at least 14,000 feet. Chelsea has a great passion for animals, especially her Australian Shepherd, Flynn, and hopes to have a therapy dog someday.
