Lupe Puga, MS, SLP-CF
When Guadalupe (Lupe) Puga was still a teenager she saw the dramatic power of early intervention first hand. When one of Lupe’s younger siblings began receiving treatment for developmental delay, Lupe marveled at how quickly gains were made. This experience solidified Lupe’s desire to one day become a pediatric speech-language pathologist.
Lupe went on to pursue a degree in the field of speech-language pathology at the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville). She later earned a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock.
As a caring provider known for having exceptional listening skills, it is no surprise that Lupe embraces strong therapist – parent communication as a critical component of her clinical care. She shares, “I like hearing from the parent. I listen to their concerns, what they have been doing at home, and what goals they have for their child.”
With strong fluency in English and Spanish, Lupe often utilizes her bilingual language proficiency in clinical treatment settings. While evaluating children at Arkansas Children’s Hospital during her graduate training, Lupe felt well equipped to shift between evaluating in English or Spanish depending on the needs of the child and family.
Having grown up in the region, Lupe is happy to call Northwest Arkansas home. As a proud alumna of the University of Arkansas, Lupe enjoys attending Razorback games. She also enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her loyal dog.
