Amber Williams is a dedicated pediatric physical therapist who also happens to have serious credentials as an athlete. As a teenager, Amber competed for the US National Team as a gymnast. Today, she competes in running and biking races on the weekends and often finds herself on the winner’s stand.
Fanfare
Amber considers herself to be a fan of the kids she treats. Physical therapy can often be physically rigorous and challenging and takes a true commitment from both the child and therapist in order to make gains. So, as a pediatric therapist, Amber is a mega fan of the kids she serves. She offers boundless cheers and encouragement along the way.
Victory
In a fun twist, one of Amber’s TEAM kids, little Mabrey Bollenbacher, has become a fan of Amber. According to Mabrey’s mom, Amy Bollenbacher, Mabrey loves to follow Amber’s weekend races online and is elated when Amber wins.
In true sportscaster fashion, when Mabrey learns of another victory earned by her therapist, she enthusiastically says, “You’ve got to be kidding me!” The admiration between Mabrey and Amber is mutual in every way.
Mabrey hit cloud nine when one day during therapy, Amber gave Mabrey one of her medals as a reward for working so hard. Mabrey was so pleased with the award, she didn’t want to take it off… even at pajama time.
Making Connections
Amber loves looking for ways to make connections with the children she treats. When she is able to find the spark within each child, she relishes the opportunity to use the connection as a motivator. Amber shares, “It can be difficult for kids to see the end goal or why they need therapy, so I strive to turn therapy into something that my kids can relate to and feel good about.”
